Strong Start Program Mentor (Case Worker)

Broome Youth & Families Hub (BYFH) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Strong Start Program Mentor to join our team full-time.

The Strong Start Program provides early intervention support to primary school-aged children (6–12 years) and their families who may be experiencing vulnerability, barriers to engagement, or risk of disengagement from education and community connection.

In this rewarding role, you will provide mentoring, family support, advocacy and case management, helping children and families strengthen their connections to school, culture, community and positive activities. Working collaboratively with schools, families and community stakeholders, you will support positive outcomes before challenges escalate.

About You

You are a relationship-focused professional who is passionate about supporting children and families to thrive. You can build trust quickly, advocate effectively, and work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide mentoring, advocacy and practical support to children and families

  • Support school attendance, participation and engagement

  • Assist families to access services, resources and community supports

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with schools, families and service providers

  • Facilitate activities that build resilience, confidence and community connection

  • Maintain accurate case notes, support plans and program documentation

  • Promote culturally safe and strengths-based practice with children and families

  • Support attendance to activities and holiday programming  

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working with children, young people and families

  • Strong communication, organisational and relationship-building skills  

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Current National Police Clearance

  • Working With Children Check

  • Current WA Driver's Licence

Desirable:

  • Qualification in Youth Work, Community Services, Social Work or a related field (or relevant experience)

  • Experience in case management  

  • Training or experience in trauma-informed practice
