Manager - Family Support Services

Centacare Kimberley is seeking an experienced and passionate leader to join our leadership team as Manager – Family Support Services. This is a unique opportunity to lead and strengthen a range of therapeutic and family support programs that make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable children, families and communities across the Kimberley region.

This role is based in Broome, Western Australia, with regular travel throughout the Kimberley region, including overnight stays.

Reporting to the General Manager – Community Services, you will provide leadership, supervision and support to multidisciplinary teams delivering culturally secure, trauma-informed and therapeutic services. You will play a critical role in ensuring service quality, program outcomes, stakeholder engagement and the ongoing development of innovative service models that support children, families and communities experiencing complex social challenges.

About the role

In this senior leadership role, you will:

  • Lead, supervise and support Family Support Services staff across a range of therapeutic and community-based programs.

  • Ensure services are delivered in a culturally secure, trauma-informed and person-centred manner that achieves contractual outcomes and service objectives.

  • Provide professional supervision, coaching and development to staff engaged in direct client service delivery.

  • Monitor, evaluate and report on program performance, service outcomes and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Support the development of innovative therapeutic service models that promote healing, resilience and wellbeing.

  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with government agencies, Aboriginal organisations, community stakeholders and referral networks.

  • Represent Centacare Kimberley at regional forums, community meetings and stakeholder engagements.

  • Support organisational growth through service development, funding opportunities and strategic initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with funding agreements, organisational policies, legislative requirements and professional practice standards.

  • Foster a positive, collaborative and high-performing team culture.

About you

You are an experienced leader with a strong background in therapeutic family support, child and family services, counselling, psychology or social work. You are passionate about supporting vulnerable children and families and have a demonstrated ability to lead teams delivering high-quality, culturally responsive services.

Mandatory Qualification Requirement

To be considered for this role, applicants must hold a minimum Bachelor-level tertiary qualification in a Community / Human Services discipline.

This qualification must be in a field such as:

  • Social Work

  • Psychology

  • Counselling

  • Or a closely related human services discipline

Applicants who do not hold a relevant Bachelor-level qualification or higher in one of these fields will not be considered.


You will also bring:

  • A minimum of five years' experience in staff supervision, management and professional development.

  • Significant experience designing, developing and implementing therapeutic support services for vulnerable and at-risk individuals, children and families.

  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed, culturally secure, strengths-based and person-centred practice frameworks.

  • Demonstrated experience monitoring, evaluating and reporting on program outcomes and service delivery performance.

  • Sound knowledge of Western Australia's child protection system and experience working alongside statutory child protection agencies.

  • Experience working with Aboriginal people, families and communities and an understanding of the social and cultural issues affecting communities across the Kimberley region.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to develop and maintain collaborative partnerships.

  • Excellent communication, administration, data management and report-writing skills.

  • A commitment to culturally secure practice and continuous service improvement.

Remuneration and benefits

A competitive potential total remuneration package of up to approximately $156,735 to $161,735 is available for the successful candidate, dependent on skills and experience.

The package includes:

  • Base salary of up to $119,000 to $124,000 (dependent on skills and experience)

  • Housing allowance of up to $10,000 for candidates requiring relocation to Broome (not available to Broome-based candidates)

  • Five (5) weeks annual leave, valued at approximately $13,455 (inclusive of leave loading)

  • Superannuation of up to $14,280 (based on a $119,000 base salary)

  • Generous salary packaging options available through CBB, including full remote area housing and salary packaging benefits of up to $31,800 (access to salary packaging benefits is subject to individual circumstances and CBB eligibility requirements) (remote area housing salary packaging is only available to candidates based in a remote area as defined by the ATO) (Broome, WA is classified as a remote area under the ATO guidelines)
